The graph to the right shows the absorption curve for water and fat. At the two indicated wavelengths (915 and 980 nm), the respective absorption peaks occur in different chromophores. At 915 nm, it is absorbed by fat, while at 980 nm the wavelength is absorbed by water. The combination offers much safer and more accurate results.
